Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name for Winona Laura Hoowitz. She was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for her hometown. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's dad came from an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria and two half-siblings Jubal as well as Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County in California, when she was just seven. The town didn't even have electricity. Ryder was an avid read and often spent her time reading books as there was no TV. Ryder, then 12, was enrolled in the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in the year 1983. Lucas was dismissed in the year 1986. Ryder, who was barely 15 years old, landed the role of a leading actor. Ryder was bullied at high school. Ryder hoped her acting career would change the way she dealt with bullying. It didn't turn out. Still, she pursued her dream. Beetlejuice the 1988 Tim Burton film, was her first big break. Ryder was able to continue playing characters that made a splash in a variety of films. Ryder was nominated twice for Academy Awards one for her part on The Age of Innocence (1993).
